For sale, a class of its own, a thought-after collector's item, euro e24 BMW M635csi/aka the BMW M6 (named the M6 after been introduced to the Japanese and US market in late 1986 early 1987 model year and the american/japanese versions has a detuned engine with a completely different code "S38" and are less desirable than the euro counterpart).
A very rare opportunity to own such a BMW, one of the rarest and prettiest bmw model ever made. Only 5,855 cars ever built to the world (no one knows how many remains on the roads today), a hand-built purebred M Power grand tourer, one of the 1st production full M product. Car still runs perfectly, including chassis, engine and gearbox.
- Model year: 1985
- Odometer: 161,000 km
- Number matching.
- Engine: The legendary M88/3 - 286 hp. A race derived engine and derivative from the engine uses in the bmw only supercar the M1.
- 5 speed Getrag manual gearbox.
- A/C (working).
- Color: Diamantschwarz-metallic 181 (very dark anthracite metallic grey, introduced in this model year by bmw).
-Interior: lotus white leather that covers the lower part of the dash too).
- Electric windows and sunroof.
- Battery in the trunk for better weight distribution.
- 17" BBS wheels.
- Comes with wider fenders than on the regular e24 models.
Notes:
I owned the car for the past 10 years, when bought, I only replaced the suspension and cooling system (all original designated models ordered from Europe at that time). Car is registered, legal and i only drive it in good weather, never in traffic and on occasions to keep lubricant and seals in good condition. Always garaged since my aquire.
But it's a 40 years-plus old car so there are couple of hiccups that I didn't fix nor try to, here it is:
- Odometer stopped running around 10 months ago, stopped on approx the 160,700km (I never drove this car for more than 500km a year).
- Never tried to open the sunroof due to old sign of leak on the highliner.
- Car was definitely painted at some point of its life due to age before I bought it, not by an expert. But car has no history of accidents.
- Paint start to show some minimal points of rust (shown in photos)
- ABS sencor stopped working.
- Electric windows and mirrors are still working but definitely not as smoothly as when new.
- Radio not fully working (who needs it anyway when hearing the M88 singing!).
- Interior not in its perfect condition (seats) and there are some cracks on the dash.
All in all it's a great car for its age, rare and turn heads, you can buy it to drive and enjoy it for long time as it is or buy it if you are a collector or connoisseur and restore it to concour condition, will become a 120,000$ car immediately if done so.
