Beautiful edition of Lucien Clergue photo book, illustrating children as harlequins and dancers, ruins and desiccated landscapes, ragpickers, mannequins in the rubbish, animal carcasses on the beach, the female body, stones and shadows and the swamp. . .
The colour cover and the illustrated title are based on drawings by Pablo Picasso, with whom Lucien Clergue was a close friend. Clergue is one of the photographers who campaigned for photography to be recognised as an art form in France.
