Description
These are vintage French financial documents from the early 20th century — specifically a “Contrat de Capitalisation” (Capitalization Contract) issued by Crédit à l’Épargne, a mutual savings and investment society based in Lyon, France. This set, dated August 2, 1935, was made for Mr. Perahia Eliaou Cohen, a merchant in Tel Aviv, then part of British Mandate Palestine. Such contracts were investment bonds combining savings and lottery-like monthly draws, popular in France’s colonial and overseas markets. The bundle includes the main certificate (printed in French and Arabic), detailed terms, monthly coupon tables, and original tax stamps — making it a rare example of pre-Israel financial documentation tied to French banking activity in the Middle East.
