Description
This is an authentic Cretaceous-period fossil fish slab originating from the world-renowned fossil beds of Haqel or Hjoula, Lebanon. These sites date back approximately 95–100 million years (Upper Cretaceous, Cenomanian age) and are famous for their exceptionally well-preserved marine fauna. The slab shows multiple fish fossils, including two well-defined specimens exhibiting visible fin structures, body segmentation, and natural coloration typical of Lebanese preservation. The fishes are likely from the typical genera found in this formation, such as Eurypholis, Diplomystus, or small Clupeidae-type fishes, known for their elongated bodies and fine bone detail. The matrix is a natural pale beige limestone, characteristic of the region’s fossil-bearing strata. The preservation quality suggests minimal restoration, maintaining the authenticity and scientific value of the specimen.
